Idealism Album Packaging

The aim was to redesign album packaging for a randomly assigned music genre [ambient] and art movement influence [gothic]. Ambient music is atmospheric, vague, and full of feeling, while the gothic style involved intricate manuscript typography and rigid symmetrical forms.
Idealism named his third album hiraeth—an untranslatable Welsh word loosely meaning homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was. This idea was woven with the gothic push and pull of classic and contemporary. A muted gradient contrasts with stark blackletter typography. Fine lines and symmetry mimic gothic-style architecture.
